Mizoram 7th July 2023: Don Bosco School, Thenzawl organised a study tour to Horticulture College for students of class VIII-X under the guidance of the Principal, Fr. Richard and the High school teachers. The purpose of the tour was to enable the students to get hands-on practical learning apart from the theory which they learnt in school.
The students reached the destination at 1.15 pm. Reaching the college, the Dean of the college welcomed and addressed the students with few words about the college and it's purpose. Then, they proceeded for a tour with the guide Ms. Lalrinfeli. She began with the introduction about Horticulture, it’s different branches, scope, benefits and its commercial importance. The students tuned their ears while she explained about vermicompost and the cultivation of mulberry plants.
On the field, the students observed the different species of beans cultivated , vegetables, dragon fruits, flowers, mushroom cultivation etc. Some of these are grown outside in the farm and some are cultivated in the green house. The guide, then took the students to another site, newly constructed ' Natural farming cum eco park '. This project was launched by PM Narendra Modi to promote natural farming and also to boasts tourist attractions.
The day ended with a words of gratitude towards the management of the college by Fr. Richard the Principal of the School.
