VOCATIONAL TRAINING AT ST. XAVIER’S SCHOOL PATHALIGHAT
Shillong 3rd July: As per NEP 2020 which underscores various reasons for integrating vocational
training within the traditional academic framework, St. Xavier's Higher Secondary
School Pathaliaghat introduces a couple of vocational training courses for students
in order to make themselves career-ready by providing them with real-time, practical
experiences in their chosen sectors. From this academic session 2024-25, the school
has taken various new initiatives so as to prepare the students for better life in the
future. By integrating vocational training in the school, we want to prepare students
for various career paths and strengthen the connection between education and industry
needs. A number of vocational courses like Electrical, Carpentry, Bakery, Music,
Beautician and Tailoring, for students from class VII - XII has been introduced from
1st July 2024 onwards. A very good response has been received both from parents and
students. This new initiative of the school has been highly appreciated by everyone.
This vocational training in the school helps the students with the precise knowledge
and skills required for a specific profession or trade. Students are more engaged when
they’re passionate , and vocational training often taps into their genuine interests. As
the days go by, the school wishes to introduce more and more vocational courses for
the benefit of the students.
