‘The Magic of the Dream’: The Annual concert 2024
4th May 2024, Shillong: Savio Juniorate celebrates the Feast of its Patron, St. Dominic Savio, every year with the Annual concert. The musical drama entitled ‘The Magic of the Dream: the dream that turns wolves into lambs’ was staged from 2nd to 4th May 2024. The musical play is based on the famous dream of Johny Bosco at the age of nine as a mark of celebration on the occasion of the 2oo years of the dream integrating the theme of the Strenna of 2024 ‘The dream that makes you dream: A heart that transforms wolves into lambs. The play was written by Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar sdb and the music and songs were written and composed by Bro. James Marbaniang sdb. The three shows on three consecutive days were for the religious, priests, seminarians, novices, the school students, the past pupils, parents and guardians of the Apostolic boys and friends and well-wishers. Rev. Fr. Mukt Tirkey sdb, The Rector of the community, welcomed the gathering and expressed the joy and happiness of the community in having them on the occasion of the annual concert. All those who came to witness the musical drama expressed contentment and great appreciation for the play. Rev. Fr. John Zosiama sdb, the Salesian provincial of the Shillong Province, graced the occasion as the chief Guest on the first show. He exhorted the audience to continue the legacy of the dream of Don Bosco turning wolves into lambs. Smt. Obilet Tariang, an entrepreneur from Shillong city, was the chief guest on the second day. He urged the students who had come for the show to draw lessons from the play and take home. He also exhorted the Apostolic boys to persevere in their vocation to take care of the ‘wolves’. In the third and final show, Smt. Priscilla Nongspung, a retired government servant, was the Chief Guest and Dr. Bashida Massar, Professor of St. Anthony’s college, was the guest of honour. The chief guest advised the parents who had come for the show not to give up on their children who might have made mistakes in their life. In all the three shows, the well-acted play along with the captivating and well-choreographed dances, the melodious singing, the enchanting choir and the delightful instrumentals enthralled the audience. Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar sdb, the Dean of studies, proposed the vote of thanks acknowledging the contribution, generosity and commitment of all those who contributed to the resounding success of the annual concert 2024.
