THE 22ND ANNUAL CUM INTERSCHOOL’S SPORTS MEET 2025
10th April 2025, Shillong: The 22nd Annual Cum Interschool’s Sports Meet 2025 of St. Anthony’s Lower Primary School was held with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation on 10th April 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM in the mini stadium of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary school grounds. The event was marked by unity, discipline, and the joyful spirit of sportsmanship as students from across 15 participating schools came together to celebrate the occasion.
The sports meet was inaugurated by Mr. Pynkhambor Harris Khongwir, Commandant, Border Wing Home Guard Battalion, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The ceremony began with a welcome speech by the Headmaster, Fr. Rapheal Tham Sdb, who extended warm greetings to all dignitaries, invitees, students, participants, and guests.
This was followed by a grand March Past by contingents from 15 schools, each proudly representing their institutions. The March Past was enhanced by the stirring and melodious tunes of the Home Guard Band, whose presence added grandeur to the morning’s proceedings.
In his address, Mr. Khongwir encouraged the students to pursue excellence not only in academics but also in physical and character-building activities like sports. Following his speech, he officially declared the Sports Meet open, which was met with applause and cheers.
The opening ceremony was followed by vibrant drill displays performed by various class groups:
Nursery to class V. Subsequently, the interschool’s and inter-house sports events commenced. Participants competed in a range of athletic and team events, highlighting their skills, determination, and sportsmanship. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day kept the spirit of the meet alive.
The Concluding Ceremony took place in the afternoon, with Ms. Mary G.T. Sangma, Superintendent of Police in charge of the Anti-Infiltration Directorate, attending as the Chief Guest. Her presence was a source of inspiration for the young athletes.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony followed, where winners and outstanding performers were awarded medals, trophies, and certificates. In her address, Ms. Mary G. T. Sangma praised the participants for their dedication and emphasized the role of sports in shaping responsible and resilient individuals.
A sincere vote of thanks was delivered by Bro. Dinimemon, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, staff, volunteers, and the organizing committee for making the event a grand success.
The event concluded with the lowering of the flag, followed by the official closing declaration of the sports meet by the Chief Guest, Ms. Mary G. T. Sangma. The day ended with a strong sense of accomplishment and joy, leaving lasting memories in the hearts of everyone present.
