21st September 2024, Shillong: On September 21, 2024, the St. Dominic Savio Novitiate in Sunnyside held an engaging extempore speech competition in the AV hall, starting at 5:30 PM. The event, anchored by Bro. Assistant, aimed to boost the confidence and speaking skills of novices. Participants received their topics three minutes prior and delivered speeches within a three-minute time frame, covering relevant current issues. Judged by Sr. Iohdahun Malai, Sr. Nini Dhar, and Fr. Prabir, the competition evaluated fluency, clarity, enunciation, modulation, confidence, and creativity. Novice Francis Haunar Lalremruata emerged as the winner, while Novices Damutskhem and Subrai Kalai secured first and second runner-up positions, respectively. The event showcased the participants' enthusiasm and public speaking skills, concluding with a hymn to Don Bosco and a group photo, highlighting the camaraderie and spirit of the novices.
