ST. DOMINIC SAVIO NOVITIATE DON BOSCO SUNNYSIDE CELEBRATES ORATORY DAY

4th May 2025, Shillong: The red-letter day commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony at around 9:30 a.m. Fr. Master welcomed the gathering of approximately 600 Oratorians (excluding the women and Salesian Cooperators) and introduced the Main Celebrant, Fr. Bivan Mukhim SDB (Vice-Provincial of ING), the Chief Guest, Bah Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, the guest Bah Moris, along with Br. Ricky Mawlong SDB and two other Salesians. He also explained the motto of this year’s Oratory Day: Phi Long Ka Jingkyrmen. The event opened with a prayer, followed by the lighting of the inaugural lamp by the three guests and Fr. Master. Soon after, the flag was hoisted beside the pandal.
The Inaugural Ceremony was followed by sessions for the youth and children, divided by age groups. Fr. Bivan Mukhim SDB addressed the youth, while Br. Ricky Mawlong SDB engaged the children with a talk and animation. These sessions lasted until 10:50 a.m.
Next, the Novices led an ice-breaking session, energizing the crowd before the celebration of the Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Main Celebrant, Fr. Vice-Provincial of ING, delivered a message on the power of prayer, the importance of loving God above all, and serving others. Various Oratory Centres contributed to the Eucharistic celebration through readings, choir performances, offertory, altar service, and liturgical dances.
A delicious lunch, organized in collaboration with the Salesian Cooperators, was served around 12:30 p.m. Although "Chance Games" were scheduled afterward, a sudden downpour forced their cancellation. Instead, from 1:30 to 2:20 p.m., the Novices led the participants in a lively session of action songs.
The Cultural Programme began soon after and continued until 5:30 p.m., followed by tea. The day concluded with a joyful jam session where some danced and sang, while others captured memories through group photos and shared their farewells.
Oratory Day 2025 officially came to a close at 6:00 p.m.
