Silver Jubilee of the 7th Mile Oratory


The 7th January 2024, is the day that reaffirmed the historic event of the 7th Mile Oratory where they celebrated the Conclusion of the Silver Jubilee at Mawñianglah Church. The inauguration began on the 5th February, 2023. Throughout the year, the Youth, children along with the Novices organized various activities and competitions to mark the Jubilee Year. It was on the 7th January that the climax of the occasion was beautifully organized. The celebration was convened at Nine O'clock with the Holy Eucharist which was presided over by Fr. Arcadius Puweiñ. There were around five priests, few sisters and some brothers. The whole Community of Don Bosco Sunnyside also joined for the Holy Mass. The Catholic faithful of the surrounding Mawñianglah assembled to the place. All the Oratory Centres of Don Bosco Sunnyside also joined the event. The celebrant exhorted the youth to persevere and aim high with hope, courage and commitment. The Eucharist ended at twelve noon. The afternoon Programme began at 1:15 pm with the Benediction. The Cultural Programme started at 2:00 pm. The chief Guest of the Programme was Shri. Ronie V. Lyngdoh, the MLA of Mylliem Constituency (he also participated at the Holy Eucharist). The Cultural Programme was enriched with the dances, singing, acting, speeches and special items. During the speech, the Chief Guest appreciated the youth especially the leaders such as Breakstar Dkhar, Karbius Dkhar, Miss Christina Kharkongor, Marcel Khongkhlad and many youth of the Centre for their initiatives, dedication and their contribution towards the growth of the society. He also appreciated the brothers from Sunnyside past and present for their missionary spirit and continued apostolate. He shared his Oratory Days at Don Bosco where he learned that doing the sign of the cross is a powerful way to witness Christ as a catholic. He advised everyone present especially the youth to work hard and be a positive change in their lives. The Programme ended with the Dehoisting of the Jubilee Flag by Fr. Hampyrwa Tyngkan. The Jubilee Celebration got over with the beautiful vote of thanks from Marcel Khongkhlad. He expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Centre to God and to all those who had contributed for the success of the Jubilee Celebration. The day brought lots of joys, satisfaction, and unity not only to the Oratory Centre of 7th Mile but also for all the Centres as a whole.
