Shillong, 16th October – On October 16, the Salesians of the Shillong Province celebrated the jubilees of Fr. John Mathew Mundaplackal and Fr. Jose Thekkekunnel (Golden Jubilee of Profession), Fr. Antony Kannanayakkal (Silver Jubilee of Ordination), Br. Barnabas Khriam, Fr. Denis Laffela, Fr. Francisco Dhar, Fr. Raphael Risterland Maiong, Fr. James Thyrniang, and Fr. Felix Demitrik Dkhar (Silver Jubilee of Profession) at Divine Savior Nongthymmai Parish. The day was also observed as the Provincial Community Day for the Shillong Province. The jubilee celebration commenced with a solemn Eucharistic Mass, celebrated by Fr. John Mathew and concelebrated by the jubilarians, in the presence of Fr. John Zosiama, Provincial of Shillong Province, Fr. Jeevan Lakra, Vice Provincial, Fr. Genesius Wanniang, the Province Economer, along with fellow Rectors of various Salesian communities, Parish Priests, other priests, brothers, sisters, novices, aspirants, families of the jubilarians, and other guests. Fr. Denis Laffela delivered a moving homily, emphasizing the significance of the jubilee and the journey of faith and service. Jubilee signifies “celebrating the love of our Father, revealed to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is a celebration of our Father's mercy. The jubilarians serve as a testament to His truth," he stated. Following the Mass, a short felicitation program was held to honor the jubilarians and also to celebrate the Provincial Community Day. Fr. Zosiama, the Provincial, congratulated the jubilarians, commending their dedication, service, and contributions to the Salesian mission. The evening festivities included vibrant songs and dances performed by aspirants, novices, and brothers, bringing the joyful occasion to a memorable close.
