The Salesian Province of Shillong (INS) organized a two-day Tri-Monthly Recollection cum Meeting for the Practical Training and Student Brothers on 10th and 11th, March 2023 at Pastoral Centre, Cleve Colony, Shillong. 35 Practical Trainees and Student Brothers from the regions of Khasi-Jaintia Hills and Ribhoi district attended this meeting. The meeting began with a recollection preached by Father Johnny Eapen on the theme: “Lenten Season: A Spiritual Battle.” In his talk he commented on the three-fold pillars or weapons for our spiritual battle, namely, almsgiving, prayer and fasting. After the confession, we had way of the Cross service which was well animated and fruitfully participated by the brothers. The first day ended with the Rosary, Night Prayer together with the aspirants at Pastoral Centre and the Good Night talk was given by Father AL Jose. The second day began with morning prayer, meditation and Holy Eucharist presided over by Father Paul Olphindro, the Provincial. After breakfast Father Provincial took the first session on the importance of knowing one’s own call or vocation and he also shared some news and information about the province and the congregation. After a short break, the second session was taken by Father John Zosiama, the Vice Provincial on the necessity of having regular spiritual direction for young religious. We were divided into different groups and discussed about how the spiritual direction and manifestation (rendiconto) were carried out in different communities. Before concluding the session, the brothers also got a chance to voice out some suggestions and ideas regarding their formation and vocation. It was very fascinating and enriching moment for all of us.
