13th October 2024, Nongpoh: The inaugural Youth Convention for Marngar Sub-District was held from October 11-13, 2024, in Umthangiong village, gathering 180 young participants from 19 villages. The event commenced with the flag hoisting by Fr. Gabriel Jalong, Assistant Parish Priest of Nongpoh, followed by a welcoming speech from youth secretary Mr. Kitbok Makri. The convention, themed “Love and Serve with Joy,” included an hour of Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, animated by the youth themselves. Renowned Diocesan priest Fr. Felix Klein led sessions throughout the day, encouraging participants to embrace their faith. A key highlight was the opportunity for reconciliation through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, accompanied by prayers and the Holy Rosary. Evening activities featured engaging competitions, including debates, extempore speeches, and singing contests, fostering camaraderie among the youth. The closing day began with a solemn morning prayer, followed by a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Fr. Gabriel. His sermon emphasized the importance of joyful service in the Church. The convention concluded with a ceremonial flag lowering, marking a successful gathering filled with gratitude and spiritual growth for all attendees.
