FAREWELL MASS HELD FOR REVEREND FATHER MATHEW PAYYAPILLY IN SHILLONG
17th April 2024, Shillong: The faithful of the Catholic Church, along with the religious of the Salesian Congregation and the students of Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, bid a solemn farewell to Reverend Father Mathew Payyapilly, who passed away on April 15 at Natzareth Hospital, Shillong.
A heartfelt farewell mass, presided over by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of the Shillong Archdiocese, was held at the chapel of Don Bosco Technical School. The archbishop eloquently illuminated the Word of God, reflecting upon the life and contributions of Father Mathew.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the provincials of Dimapur and Guwahati provinces, along with other provincials from different congregations, and Father Richard, the Vicar General of the Shillong Archdiocese.
Condolence messages were shared by Fr. Mathew's loved ones, before his body was laid to rest at Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery. The final blessing was bestowed by Father Paul O Lyngkot, provincial of the Shillong province.
