DON BOSCO SHILLONG PROVINCE HOSTS ANNUAL PRINCIPALS’ MEETING: A CONVERGENCE OF VISION AND COLLABORATION

9th August 2025, Shillong: The Annual Three-Day Principals’ Meeting of Don Bosco Schools under the Shillong Province was held from 7th to 9th August 2025 at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Shillong. The event, coordinated by Fr. Babu Stephen, Delegate for Education and Culture, brought together 35 principals representing schools across Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, and the Barak Valley, along with the Provincial and his Council. The gathering commenced on the evening of 7th August with a simple yet meaningful inaugural ceremony. Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Provincial, extended a warm welcome to the participants, commending their dedication and service. Fr. Babu Stephen invoked God’s blessings, setting a reflective tone for the sessions ahead. The first day featured two key sessions: • Fr. Babu Stephen presented detailed school statistics, including student enrolment and staffing figures across the province's 35 institutions. • Fr. John Zosiama followed with insightful reflections drawn from General Chapter 29 (GC 29).

    On the second and third days, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. John Zosiama and Fr. Silvio Roggia SDB, General Councillor for Formation. These moments of spiritual nourishment were complemented by the sharing of best practices among principals, encouraging peer learning and collaboration. Fr. Babu also presented the 2025 Board Examination results for Classes X and XII, commending the schools for their commendable achievements.

    Special thematic sessions enriched the meeting further:

    • Financial Management & Documentation – Fr. Genesius Wanniang SDB
    • Centralized Uniforms & Notebooks Policy Review – Fr. Saji Stephen & Br. Regi
    • Education to Faith – Fr. Barnes Mawrie SDB
    • Poverty Eradication Mission – Fr. James Thyrniang SDB
    • Clubs and Movements in Schools – Fr. Babu Stephen

    Another key agenda item was the preparation for the upcoming NECDBS Conference, to be hosted in Shillong from 5th to 8th November 2025. The spirited exchange of ideas, challenges, and experiences over the three days fostered unity, mutual understanding, and a renewed commitment to the Salesian mission.

    The meeting concluded on the afternoon of 9th August with a final message from Fr. Jeevan Lakra SDB, Vice-Provincial, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks from Fr. Sawlus Kharpran SDB. The gathering stood out not just for its content but also for the strong fraternal spirit and enthusiastic participation that marked each session, ensuring the success of this important annual event.
