16th April 2024, Pathaliaghat: A two- day Teacher’s Training for all Don Bosco School Teachers of Pitra, Herma, Mandwi, Bishramganj, Naba Sardar and Pathaliaghat was held from 15th -16th April 2024 at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School Pathaliaghat. Rev. Fr. P.D. Johny SDB, the Secretary of SPCSA and AIDBES, New Delhi, was the resource person for the training. A total of 190 teachers along with 5 principals and 5 headmistresses participated in this annual training programme in view of the new academic session 2024-25. It was a combined efforts of all the 6 Don Bosco Schools of the region under the leadership of Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, the province delegate for Education and Culture in the province of Shillong. The first day of animation programme began with a prayer and song by the SDBs and FMAs which was followed by Words of welcome by Fr. Babu Stephen and a beautiful message by Fr. Blasius Kujur SDB set the tone for the day’s programme. The lamp lighting ceremony by Fr. Blasius, Fr. P.D. Johny, Fr. Remol Marak and one of the senior teachers of St. Xavier’s School added beauty and meaning to the whole programme. Fr. P.D. Johny SDB, an accomplished educationist with all his expertise, experience and intellectual calibre animated the teachers with video clippings, pictures and group discussions. He dealt with many topics which are very much connected to school education, class room management. Coming together of different school teachers make school administration and teaching learning experiences much better and easier. These two days of training programme, has helped the teachers a lot. They have learned a lot from the sessions taken by Fr. P.D. Johny and from the group discussion. Watching different video clippings related to education and classroom management has in fact motivated the teachers to re-commit themselves into active teaching learning culture. Their outlook towards students and parents has also changed and they want to give their best for the welfare of the students. The two days animation programme came to an end with vote of thanks by Fr. Babu.
