CONFIRMATION OF 517 YOUNG PEOPLE IN RANGBLANG PARISH
28th April2024, Rangblang: On April 28, 2024, Rangblang Parish celebrated the confirmation of 517 young individuals, marking the largest number of confirmants in its history. The event followed two days of preparation classes on April 26th and 27th, during which fathers, sisters, and head catechists served as resource persons, educating the youth on various topics including the sacrament of Confirmation, confession, youth and the church, the Ten Commandments, the seven sacraments and Youth and Health.
On the evening of April 27th, the youth engaged in spiritual preparation through the sacrament of Reconciliation, guided by Fr. Paul, Fr. Mathew, Fr. John, Fr. Edmund, and Fr. Jeffree. This time of reconciliation allowed them to cleanse their souls and receive God's forgiveness, preparing them for the sacrament of Confirmation.
The confirmation day commenced with morning psalms at 9:30 AM, leading into a joyful Mass presided over by Bishop Wilbert Marwein. In the presence of Fr. Parish Priest, Fr. Edmund, Fr. Jeffree (Assistant Parish Priest), sisters, brothers, head catechists, church leaders, and numerous faithful, Bishop Wilbert administered the sacrament of Confirmation to the eager youth. Despite initial threats of showers, the day unfolded with warmth and pleasantness, witnessing long queues for confirmation and offerings.
During his homily, Bishop Wilbert drew from Acts 1:8, reminding the young people of their call to be witnesses, saying, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." He also emphasized the need for the youth to seek God's wisdom through the Holy Spirit, echoing James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you".
The Mass concluded around 1:00 PM, followed by a joyous photo session with all 517 boys and girls. After a lunch break at 2:00 PM, the day continued with evening psalms and adoration animated by Fr. Jeffree, concluding by 3:15 PM.
The event was not just a confirmation but a strengthening of faith for the confirmed boys and girls as they departed for their homes, grateful for the beautiful day despite the morning's threat of showers.
