2nd December, Pathaliaghat: A week long Sporting events were held at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat from 29th Nov. – 2nd December 2023. The annual sports week of the school kicked off from 11th November with a well organized Marathon Race for classes III- XII in which 900 students took part and made it a grand opening ceremony for sports week. The inaugural ceremony of our school sports week was held on 29th November at 9:30 am in the Don Bosco Mini Stadium. Fr. Glorious Syiemlieh SDB, the Rector of Bosco Home Herma graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Sr. Rihun Sten FMA, the superior of Auxilium Pathaliaghat as Guest of Honour. The presence of many other fathers and sisters from near and far also made the inaugural ceremony very solemn. The opening ceremony commenced with hoisting of the School Flag by Chief Guest thereafter the much awaited prestigious Inter-house March-past by four houses’ contingents: Bosco, Nehru, Teresa and Gandhi, was held. It was indeed a spectacular show by our students especially when they marched in unison and saluted the Chief Guest. A mass drill display by our girls from class I-XII kept everyone spellbound and mesmerized. While addressing the students both Chief Guest and Guest of Honour exhorted everyone to take part actively in all competitions with sportsman spirit. The days sporting events went on well for juniors, inters and seniors. The Grand Finale of our Annual Sports Week was held on 2nd December with Fr. Sebastian Palatty SDB, the principal of Don Bosco School Agartala as Chief Guest and Fr. Remol Marak as Guest of Honour. The programme began with warm welcome accorded to all the guests and parents which was followed by the most prestigious inter-house march-past during which the Chief Guest also took the salute. Once again our beautiful and smart girls took everyone by surprise with their enthralling performance of the Mass Drill Display. In his address, Fr. Sebastian highlighted the importance of sports in every student’s life. He encouraged everyone to give their best in every game that they participate. After his speech, the principal, Fr. Babu also announced the winner of the Inter-house march-past and asked Fr. Sebastian to do honour of giving away the Winner’s trophy to both boys’ and girls’ contingents. The day’s programme went on well with lots of events for juniors, inters and senior boys and girls. The highlight of the day was the events organized for parents which boosted the morale and spirit of the students. The winners of all indiviual events were awarded with Medals and certificate by different dignitaties present on the dais. The grand finale of the annual sports week of St. Xavier’s Hr. Sec. School Pathaliaghat came to an end with the declaration of Gandhi House as the overall champion and Teresa house as the first Runner Up. The school place on record the great work done by the sports secretary Mr. Chiranjit Tripura and asst. Secretary Ms. Ribilda K. for their dedicated work and meticulous planning of the sports week. The principal also thanked al the students and teachers for their wholehearted cooperation and support for the success of the sports week. The school expressed its gratitude to all our parents and guardians for being part of the sports week. A special word of thanks to Fr. Babu, our principal for his guidance and keen interest in the overall development of the students.
