1st YOUTH CONVENTION IN NONGPOH AREA


20th October 2024, Nongpoh: The 1st Youth Convention of Nongpoh Parish Area was organized from October 19-20, 2024. The Youth gathered from the 9 localities. The motto of the convention was “LOVE, Serve and Proclaim,” which guided the youth for these two days program. The program started at 9.00 am with the hoisting of the Flag by Fr. Gabriel Jalong Sdb Assistant Parish Priest of Nongpoh in the presence of Sr. Margreth Kharmuti Fma Assistant Spiritual Youth Director, Mr. Lastforious Marngar advisor and the 215 young this was followed by the welcoming speech from Vicky Shadap the president of the youth of the Nongpoh area, thereafter the Debate and quiz competitions were organized where the youth of different locality took active part it. At 1.45 pm Sr. Margreth Kharmuti Fma gave an introductory talk where she encouraged the young people to live their youthful life in its fullness and to be a good apostle to those who are far from the church. The resource person for these two days was Fr. Anthony Kharbuki Sdb. a young and vibrant Salesian. At 3.15 pm he began his session by invoking God’s blessings upon all the young people which was followed by a session on the Church and the society (Ka Balang bad Jaitbynriew) and young people and addiction. The program of the day ended at 6.00pm after the Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament and the reception of the sacrament of reconciliation, where the young people took an active part in this moment of encountering the divine. The 20th of October began with the Morning Prayer led by the youth of Mawdiangum, preceded by the first session by Fr.Anthony Kharbuki sdb on the sacredness of the Sacrament of matrimony, the session included the group discussion on this topic especially the reason where this sacrament is not taken care. The Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Fr. Anthony Kharbuki during the sermon he encouraged the young people to be become Missionary of Church today and to carry forward the mandate of Christ. During Mass the youth leaders of Nongpoh area took a promised to be committed leaders and to help the other youth in the church to live their Christian faith joyfully. After Mass Fr. Anthony lowered the convention flag followed by the felicitation program, prize distribution and the jam session. The program ended with a deep sense of gratitude for the fruitfulness of this first youth convention.
