VIVA DON BOSCO, WE HAVE THREE NEW PRIESTS
Silchar,5th January 2025: On February 2, 2025, the Shillong Province family gathered in fervent prayer and joyous celebration at Don Bosco Silchar, as three young and zealous Salesians: Fr. Jitendis Sohshang, Fr. Shanborlin Khardewsaw, and Fr. Santreki Muliar, the New Priests of the Province were felicitated.
The New Priest’s Day began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 5:30 pm, a moment of deep spiritual significance for all present. This solemn Mass was concelebrated by 37 priests, including the newly ordained, who were surrounded by the warmth and prayers of their Salesian brothers. The celebration was graced by the presence of Fathers, Sisters, and the faithful from neighbouring parishes and communities, all united in the spirit of gratitude for the gift of their priesthood.
Following the Holy Mass, a heartfelt felicitation program was held to honour the new priests, who were welcomed into their sacred ministry with love and joy. The program was made even more special by the lively performances from the hostelers and school students, who infused the celebration with their youthful energy and devotion. The occasion was also an opportunity to recognize and thank the Provincial Council and the principals of our schools, who were present for the Principals' Meet and Council Meeting.
As the evening drew to a close, the celebration continued with a warm fellowship meal, where the Salesian family came together in fraternal joy, sharing stories, laughter, and blessings. It was a time of thanksgiving for the gift of vocations, and a moment of prayerful hope for the future of the Church and the Salesian mission.
Speaking to Don Bosco Media Network, Fr. Kitboklang Tyngkan said ‘Viva Don Bosco, we have three new priests in the province’ as he wishes God’s blessings on them saying ‘May the Lord continue to bless Fr. Jitendis, Fr. Shanborlin, and Fr. Santreki in their priestly ministry, and may they always be faithful witnesses to Christ, following the footsteps of St. John Bosco in service to the young and the needy’.
