BOSCO ACADEMY AT BOSCO HOME HERMA CELEBRATES 200 YEARS OF DON BOSCO’S DREAM
Bosco Home Herma, Tripura – On the evening of 16th August 2024, the Bosco Academy, hosted by the Pre-novices of Bosco Home Herma, was held to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the dream of Don Bosco at the age of nine. The event, which began at 5:30 pm, was a heartwarming and vibrant celebration aimed at spreading devotion to the life and work of St. John Bosco, Our Father and founder.
The theme of the event was closely tied to the Strenna of 2023-2024, which is “The Dream that Makes You Dream.” The Strenna itself is a global Salesian initiative, and this year it particularly focuses on the formative and visionary experience of Don Bosco’s dream at the age of nine. The dream, which shaped his life’s mission to help young people, was brought to life during the Bosco Academy through various performances and artistic expressions.
The Pre-novices presented a rich and diverse program that captivated the audience. The show opened with a lively dance performance that set the tone for the event. The energetic performance was followed by a series of captivating acts, including melodious choir pieces and inspiring band performances. The highlight of the evening was a comedy skit, which humorously yet thoughtfully portrayed some aspects of Don Bosco’s life and mission.
However, the core of the evening’s performance revolved around the dramatic retelling of Don Bosco’s dream, as experienced when he was just nine years old. This momentous dream was not only a personal vision but also a divine calling that directed his life’s work in the service of the youth. The Pre-novices used a mix of visual storytelling and narration to bring the dream to life, emphasizing how it spurred Don Bosco to dedicate his life to education and faith formation for the youth of Italy and beyond.
In between performances, the attendees were reminded of the central message of Don Bosco’s life: the importance of dreaming big and dedicating oneself to the service of others. The 200th anniversary of Don Bosco’s dream served as a powerful reflection on how the Salesian charism continues to inspire millions of people around the world.
The Bosco Academy concluded with a hymn to Don Bosco. The evening was a fitting tribute to the legacy of Don Bosco, a reminder of the power of dreams in shaping lives and communities.
