RILANG CHILDREN’S HOME SHINES AT NATIONAL SEMINAR ON EMPOWERING FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES
October 4th, 2024, Shillong: Rilang Children's Home made its mark at the prestigious Seminar on Empowering Families and Communities Towards Caring for Children and Young at Risk, organized by Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk. Held at Alpha Pastoral Centre on October 3-4, 2024, the seminar brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss critical issues related to child care and protection.
The two-day seminar featured in-depth discussions on sub-themes such as Child Centric Family Empowerment, Legal Frameworks, Alternative Care, and Community-Based Care. Renowned resource persons and experts shared their insights, providing valuable inputs aligned with the Policy and Guidelines of Mission Vatsalya on Alternative Care.
The Rilang Children's Home had reason to celebrate, with two of its outstanding individuals receiving prestigious awards. Mr. Sonu Kumar, an Aftercare Boy from the home, was conferred the Best Youth Award of the Year. Additionally, Mr. Airiston Kyndait's artwork won the Best Poster of the Year Award in the poster competition themed "Family is Where I Belong," the theme of the YaR campaign 2024-2025.
The Superintendent of Rilang Children's Home received the awards on behalf of the winners, beaming with pride. The seminar also featured an inspiring panel discussion by former residents of Child Care Institutions (CCIs) who have successfully pursued higher studies or established careers.
