30th August 2024, Shillong: The Salesian Province of Shillong hosted a three-day long School Principals’ Meet for 34 schools from 28-30 August 2024 at Don Bosco Provincial House Mawlai, Shillong, Meghalaya. 40 Salesians from 34 schools across the Province, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Barak Valley of Assam, along with Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Provincial, Fr. Jeevan Lakra SDB, the Vice-provincial, Fr. Genesius Wanniang SDB, the Economer and all the council members participated in the meet. Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, the province delegate for Education and Culture, coordinated the meet. The annual school principal's meet was a productive and engaging event bringing together the best brains of the province for better animation and sharing of their rich experiences of school education. The principal's meet kicked off with a well prepared inaugural ceremony in which Fr. Jeevan Lakra SDB, in the name of the province, welcomed the august gathering and thanked all the participants for making themselves available for the meet. The meet simulated discussions on various important and relevant topics regarding our school ministry in the province. At the very outset of the meet, Fr. John Zosiama SDB, the Provincial took the first session for an hour on the topic "The Dream that makes you Dream." Fr. John explained to the participants the understanding, uniqueness and the relevance of the dream for the Salesians. During the course of the meeting, the participants listened to a number of Salesians who took the sessions on Youth Ministry by Fr. Ritonbor Kharkongor SDB, Education to Faith by Fr. Barnes Mawrie SDB, Salesian Missionary Animation by Fr. Sunny Joseph SDB, Child Rights and Child Protection Policy by Fr. James Thyrniang SDB and Documentation and Finance by the Province Economer, Fr. Genesius Wanniang SDB. It was a praiseworthy session and the participants gained a lot from the sessions. Fr. Babu Stephen SDB dealt with a couple of important school related matters and concerns of our schools in common. The presentations by respective school principals regarding their school statistics and achievements for the year 2024-25 was very encouraging and fantastic. The various interventions and inputs shared by all principals made the Principals' meet very lively and dynamic. These three days of coming together of principals of the Don Bosco Schools in Shillong Province helped us to understand the great volume of work we carry out in the province. The centralisation of Uniforms and Notebooks in the province had been discussed at length during the meet in which all the principals came out with lots of suggestions and important deliberations are made in this regard. The participants also discussed about Green Alliance and nature friendly schools and institutions in the province. The Annual School Principals' Meet was a successful event fostering collaboration and open sharing among the school principals. The three-day Principals' meet of Shillong Province ended on 30th August with a beautiful concluding message by Fr. John Zosiama, the Provincial and vote of thanks by Fr. Babu Stephen
