ONLINE SAFETY PROGRAMME AT ST. XAVIER’S SCHOOL, PATHALIAGHAT


29th July 2024, Pathaliaghat: St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, hosted an impactful Online Safety Awareness Programme for Class 12 students on Monday the 29th of July 2024. It was organized by the dedicated members of the MONDRA Society Welfare Foundation and Tripura University. The event highlighted critical issues such as online safety, cyberbullying, and the importance of safeguarding personal information. The programme began with an engaging session on online safety, where members of MONDRA emphasized the importance of being vigilant in the digital space. Dr. Sunil Kalai, Dr. Deepak Upadhyay, and Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Dubey shared practical tips on creating strong passwords, recognizing phishing scams, and keeping software up-to-date to protect against online threats. They also addressed the rising concerns of cyberbullying, sharing real-life stories to illustrate its impact on mental health and well-being. They provided guidance on how to recognize, report, and handle cyberbullying incidents effectively, stressing the importance of supporting peers who might be affected. A significant portion of the programme focused on safeguarding personal information. The experts discussed how personal data can be exploited if not properly protected and offered valuable advice on maintaining privacy settings on social media platforms and being cautious about sharing personal information online. The event also celebrated the contributions of the MONDRA team members, including Neha Debbarma, Tegli Debbarma, Tulsi Debbarma, Saheli Debbarma, Devika Debbarma, and Deepti Reang, whose efforts made the programme a resounding success. In a special moment of recognition, Sr. Rihun Sten FMA, from the MONDRA team, received a token of appreciation for her outstanding dedication to promoting online safety awareness among the students. The programme garnered significant attention, with several YouTube news channels covering the event to highlight the school's efforts in educating students about online safety. Their coverage helped amplify the important messages shared during the event, reaching a wider audience and emphasizing the need for responsible digital behavior. The Online Safety Awareness Programme was a significant step in educating students about the risks and safety measures associated with the digital world. The insights provided by Dr. Sunil Kalai, Dr. Deepak Upadhyay, and Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Dubey equipped students with the knowledge to navigate online spaces responsibly and securely.
