29th June 2024, Pathaliaghat: A one-day Seminar cum Legal Awareness Programme on "Sexual Harassment and Exploitation of Women at Workplace" for the teachers and non-teaching staff of St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School Pathaliaghat was held on 29th June 2024 in the office of the principal. It was organized by the Sub-Divisional Legal Service Committee Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district, Tripura. Mr. Debasish Chowdhury, Ld. Legal Aid Counsel, was the resource person. The programme commenced at 1:00 pm with words of welcome and introduction by Fr. Babu Stephen, the Principal. Mr. Debasish and his team were given a warm welcome in the school by Ms. Moni Jamatia. A couple of important and relevant topics were discussed and explained to the staff. The problems of sexual harassment and exploitation of women in their workplaces and how one needs to tackle it by approaching proper authorities to settle the matter without any fear and delay were made clear to the staff. Mr. Debasish also dealt with different punishments that would attract those who commit such crimes against women in their workplaces. It was an enriching and informative programme. Teachers gained a lot of knowledge regarding their rights and powers in the society and in their workplaces. Many doubts and concerns were raised by teachers, and it was diligently dealt and answered by Mr. Debasish and his team. At the end of the seminar Fr. Babu Stephen thanked the district administration for their availability and initiative taken in organizing this seminar for the school staff.
