ST. XAVIER’S SCHOOL BAND ADDS COLOUR TO THE 7TH NORTH EAST YOUTH FESTIVAL AT AGARTALA


26th February 2024, Agartala: The Girl’s Brass Band team of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School Pathaliaghat added colour and gaiety to the inaugural ceremony of the 7th North East Youth Festival held in Agartala on 26th February 2024. Youth affairs and Sports Department, Government of Tripura hosted this Mega Youth Festival in which 900 participants from all the Eight North Eastern States took part. Shri. Tinku Roy, minister for Youth affairs and Sports, Govt. of Tripura, and Shri. Sukla Charan Noatia, minister for Co-operation, Tribal Welfare, Govt. of Tripura graced occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The presence of many other dignitaries such as Smt. Kalyanit Saha Roy member from Tripura Legislative Assembly, Dr. P.K. Chakravarty, Secretary YAS Department, Padmashree Dr. Dipa Karmakar (Olympian) and Sri. S.B. Nath Director of YAS department added colour to the whole ceremony. The inaugural ceremony of the 7th Youth Festival kicked off with the participants of eight states with colourful attires held a multi-hued procession flattering the people of the capital city of Agartala which was led by St. Xavier’s school band in their colourful band costumes and fantastic display of skills which mesmerized the spectators all along the procession. For the band girls, mostly coming from rural family backgrounds, going to the festival was a dream come true. However, it was not achieved overnight. The main aim behind organizing this Youth Festival is to bring forward the culture and tradition of the North Eastern states under one umbrella. The 7th North East Youth Festival is a platform for Tripura to display its ideas, culture, food, tradition between the North Eastern States and others. The colourful and grand inaugural ceremony of the 7th North East Youth Festival ended with a beautiful band display by our school girls Brass Band team which captivated everyone present for the ceremony.
