23rd March 2025, Silchar: On March 23, 2025, Christ the King Church in Solgoi, a Khasi village within Mary Help of Christians Parish, Patharkandi, was solemnly blessed by His Most Reverend Bishop Joachim Walder, Auxiliary Bishop of Aizawl. The day began with a solemn welcome of the Bishop by the village community. This was followed by the Church Blessing at 10:30 a.m. and the Solemn Eucharist. Lunch was served at 1:30 p.m. After lunch, at 2:30 p.m., an Adoration service was held, followed by a Cultural Programme. Approximately a thousand people gathered for this celebration. Solgoi, a Khasi village formerly part of St. Joseph Manikbond Parish (an MSFS Parish), is home to 14 Catholic families. With the establishment of Mary Help of Christians Parish in Patharkandi, Solgoi village became part of this new parish. Construction of the church in Solgoi village began about six years ago. The local community took the initiative to build the church themselves, managing the fundraising efforts. However, the then-Parish of Manikbond also provided financial and other support to complete the church.
