RRTC Umram, 2nd May, 2025: The Salesian Province of Shillong organized a Pre-Novitiate Orientation Course (PNC) from the 24th March to 2nd June, 2025 at RRTC Umran, under the assistance of Fr. Kennedy Kmenlang Kharkongor, Br. Mewan Talang and Br. Mark Shanbor Thyrniang along with RRTC Community were placed as in charges for the course. The course was set up as a short preparatory and integrated course for 32 aspirants from Don Bosco Nonglakhiat and 9 Pastoral Centre boys altogether. The main purpose for the course was to equip the aspirants, would be Pre-novices with the basic knowledge of English Literature. Importance was primarily given on Grammar, Pronunciation, reading and writing skills. Throughout the two months, various activities, contests and competitions were conducted. The aspirants were engaged into competitions like singing, dancing, creative activity and drama where they expressed their skills and talents. Grammar related contests like Debate Competitions, Extempore speech, Poem recitation and Declamation were also organized to boost the confidence and to help the aspirants in overcoming stage fright. Family gatherings were also held at various occasions to build the bond of brotherhood and share in the sense of togetherness as a family. Emphasis was also given on skills-oriented courses. Opportunities to learn the basics of Integrated Farming System were also provided for the aspirants. Practical classes on the basic of Agriculture, Apiculture, Vermi-compost, Livestock Management and Food Processing were periodically taken. The aspirants were also exposed to social interaction through football matches, pilgrimage and Rosary services to houses of surrounding locality.
