NONGSTOIN YOUTH EMBARK ON SPIRITUAL PILGRIMAGE TO SOHRA IN HONOR OF DON BOSCO

16th August 2025, Nongstoin: On August 16, 2025, the youth of Nongstoin Parish undertook a meaningful pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. John Bosco in Sohra to commemorate the birthday of Don Bosco and mark the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025. Leading this spiritual journey were Fr. Carmel Myrthong SDB and Br. Quirinus War SDB, who guided the young pilgrims in deepening their faith and devotion to their beloved patron saint.

The group set off from Nongstoin Parish at around 7:00 a.m., arriving at the shrine by 11:00 a.m.—just in time to participate in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The Mass, celebrated in union with the Don Bosco Technical School community from Shillong, was a moment of profound prayer, thanksgiving, and shared faith.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the youth gathered before the relic of St. John Bosco, where they reverently prayed the Holy Rosary, placing their lives and aspirations under the saint’s intercession. The pilgrimage also included a visit to the historic Sacred Heart Church, built in 1905 by the Salvatorian Fathers—the oldest Church in Sohra. This visit offered the youth a glimpse into the deep-rooted Catholic heritage of the region.
In addition to the spiritual activities, the youth enjoyed a short time of sightseeing, taking in the breathtaking landscapes and natural beauty of Sohra. This added a refreshing cultural dimension to their pilgrimage.
The entire experience was filled with prayer, reflection, learning, and joyful fellowship. For all who took part, the pilgrimage was a memorable and uplifting journey—renewing their commitment to walk in faith and hope as inspired followers of Don Bosco.
