MDA WINS 90,000 RUPEES IN GRAND FINAL OF STEP BATTLE DANCE SEASON 1


Shillong, December 3, 2024: True to its motto, the Don Bosco Media Network of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), Shillong, has been dedicated to promoting skills, education, morality, and dignity in society through various initiatives and programs. Over the past few months, the television channel, in collaboration with the Don Bosco Youth Center (DBYC), Laitumkhrah, and under the leadership of Rev. Father Michael Makri, SDB, Director, has organized a dance competition titled "Step Battle Dance – Season 1" for children and young men and women. Many participants showcased their dancing talents throughout the event, with the competition also offering the youth opportunities to compete in higher competitions within the state and beyond. On the evening of December 3, 2024, Step Battle Dance Season 1 reached its grand finale at the Don Bosco Youth Center, Laitumkhrah. Rev. Father Michael Makri welcomed all the contestants, parents, guests, and well-wishers. Rev. Anthony Kharkongor, Principal of St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School, was the Chief Guest. In his encouraging speech to the participants and their families, Rev. Father Kharkongor urged the contestants to set ambitious goals and strive to reach the top. He emphasized that dance is a noble art that can lead to success and provide employment opportunities. Six teams competed in the final, including ACE Merakis, Sana, LSC Duo, Megha Warriors, Phrangsngi, and Majestic Dance Academy. The competition featured three solo dances and three group dances. The Don Bosco Media Network and the Don Bosco Youth Center awarded prizes, with Rs 90,000 for the first-place winner, Rs 45,000 for the runner-up, and Rs 15,000 for third place. The judging panel, comprising Dapalei Stacy Warjri and Annisha Mawrie, deliberated on the high-quality performances from all the groups. In the end, Rev. Father Michael Makri announced the winners: Majestic Dance Academy took first place with Rs 90,000 and a trophy; Megha Warriors won Rs 45,000 and a trophy for second place; and ACE Merakis secured third place with Rs 15,000 and a trophy. Before the conclusion of the program, Father Michael Makri announced the upcoming events: a Christmas Carol Competition on December 23, and the launch of Sur Kynud Season 3, which will run from December 14, 2024, to July 31, 2025.
