The day began with the inauguration of a memorial stone by Most Rev. Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, DD, followed by the lighting of a candle by Fr. Bernard Laloo, Auxiliary Bishop. Fr. John Zosiama, the Provincial, then hoisted the parish flag, symbolizing the beginning of a new spiritual journey.
The Holy Mass, a central part of the celebration, was presided over by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh as the main celebrant, joined by Fr. Bernard Laloo, Fr. John Zosiama, and other priests, sisters, brothers, faithful from the new parish, and members of neighboring parishes. In his homily, Archbishop Lyngdoh highlighted that "a parish is a place where we receive the sacraments, a place of love, unity, and community building."
Following the homily, Fr. Silverstar SDB was officially entrusted with the authority and responsibility as the parish priest of The Sacred Heart Smit Parish. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a special ceremony honoring the fathers, Sisters, Brothers, and Benefactors who played a vital role in the realization of the new parish.
The blessed day concluded with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, led by Fr. Paul Olphindro Lyngkot, offering the faithful a time of prayer and thanksgiving.
