ANIMATION PROGRAM CUM WORKSHOP ON CHILD PROTECTION POLICY AND POCSO ACTS AT DON BOSCO TECHNICAL SCHOOL
Shillong 11th February 2025: The Don Bosco Institutions in Shillong Province have reaffirmed their commitment to actively implementing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act with a focused workshop on child protection. On February 11, 2025, Don Bosco Technical School organized a one-day workshop and animation program for the staff of St. Anthony’s L.P. School and Don Bosco Technical School (ITI), aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of critical child protection laws.
The workshop, which began at 9:00 am, kicked off with an animated prayer session led by Salesian Father Kenny Pakma SDB, Rector of RRTC Umran. Father Raphael Tham SDB, Headmaster of St. Anthony’s L.P. School, welcomed the animators and participants, offering an overview of the program's significance in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
The program saw a series of impactful sessions, starting with Father Kenny’s presentation on the Child Protection Policy, where each participant had the opportunity to review and clarify the guidelines and protocols to safeguard children. Smti. Mary Sangma IPS, Superintendent of Police, took the stage next to lead a session dedicated to the POCSO Act. She emphasized the crucial role that educators play in preventing and protecting children from sexual offenses, underscoring the responsibility of every staff member in upholding the law and fostering a safe environment.
At the close of the workshop, all participants signed the Child Protection Policy Form, marking their formal commitment to upholding the values outlined. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Father Shiningstar Dkhar, Principal of Don Bosco Technical School, reinforcing the institution's pledge to putting the POCSO Act into action and ensuring the continued safety and protection of children under their care.
