Shillong, Dec. 21. 2017 Father Paul Olphindro Lyngkot SDB, the Provincial designate of the Shillong Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco mentions that he will focus on four key areas - formation, vocations, youth ministry and social development. His leadership will provide a synergy interspersed within these four key areas of work among the Salesians and the lay faithful to work for the poor youngsters.
In a telephone interview to BIS India, Fr Paul expressed confidence that he will strive to do his best in whatever is entrusted to him. ``I know the confreres are with me. They have strong faith, hope and trust in me. Many of them accept me because I am very acceptable person, lovable person and many confreres are close to me; that`s what the Rector Major said to me. For my part, I also have very strong hope in the confreres.``

Accepting to be the Provincial was not easy at first, Father Paul says. ``At first it was quite difficult to say yes to the Rector Major, but at the end, after much personal prayer, reflection, I said yes. I know that He is there. And I know the confreres are with me.``

The announcement that Father Angel Fernandez Artime, the Rector Major had appointed Father Paul as the new Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong was made yesterday. Fr Paul, who served as the Vice-Provincial for the last six years will be installed as the 2nd Provincial of St. John Paul II Province, Shillong on 24th May 2018.
