Annual Parents` Day Celebration at Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai  by Fr. Babu Stephen
    Shillong, Feb. 20. 2017 On the evening of Friday, 17th February 2017, Don Bosco School Lawngtlai organized a colourful programme on its campus to celebrate the Annual Parents` Day. The Chief Guest for the celebration was Mrs. Ngurhmingliani Chinzah, the Principal of DIET (District Institute of Education & Training) Lawngtlai. On arrival, the Chief Guest was escorted to the venue by Fr. Principal and the staff together with the school NCC.
    It all began with a brief introduction by the compeers highlighting the importance of celebrating Parents` Day in the school which was followed by a beautiful and colourful devotional dance by the students of primary section. A brilliant welcome speech delivered by Fr. Babu Stephen, the Principal, made the parents feel welcomed and special.  The beautiful rendition of the Mizo choir by class IX students set the stage for the day`s celebration.

    The students of classes III and VIII kept everyone spellbound and mesmerised through their Ribbon dance and flower dance respectively. The funny item by class VII students and fashion show by the tiny-tots were indeed the highlight of the celebration. The students of other classes with their melodious voices sang heart touching songs to make their parents feel what they actually mean to them. They also, in their colourful attire, danced to hit songs and put up a variety of vibrant and rhythmic dances to entertain the parents. The students looked cute, innocent and adorable while summing up their three weeks of hard work. Their love for parents was clearly seen in their efforts and performances.

    The chief guest in her speech spoke on the role of the parents in a family or in any institution for its smooth running. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the supervisor. The Principal thanked the management, teachers, students and non - teaching staff for their team effort, which made the program a grand success.
