SHILLONG PROVINCE FELICITATES NEW PRIESTS  by Array
    Shillong, Jan. 23. 2017 The Salesians of the Shillong Province rejoice and glorifies the Lord for the gift of Priesthood to five of its members. The province is blessed to have these new priests in the persons of Fr. Clarence Kharmawlong hailing from Mawlai Parish, Fr. Carmel Myrthong from Sonapahar Parish, Fr. Leeborki Dhar from Jowai Parish, Fr. John D. Sohshang from Markasa Parish and Fr. Daniel Dabitlang Cajee from Nongthymmai Parish.
    To put it on record, the Salesians organized a New Priests` Day on the 22nd January, 2017 at Pynthorumkhrah Parish. Indeed it was a joyful occasion for all the Salesians and all the faithful of God to come around them and thanking God for them. The celebration was marked with the presence of Rev. Fr. George Maliekal, the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Paul Lyngkot, the Vice Provincial and the presence of many confreres, religious and the faithful from around the city.
    The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist at 10 am. Fr. Carmel was the main celebrant and the Homily was preached by Fr. Clarence. Fr. John Sohshang could not be present for the function as he has gone to Rome for the completion of his studies. The new priests thanked and praised God for the precious gift of Priesthood and invited everyone to pray for their faithfulness. They also invited the young people to listen and respond to God`s call generously and willingly.
    At the end of the Eucharistic celebration a short felicitation program was organized. There were several items to felicitate the new Priests. Fr. Provincial, during his speech reminded the new priests that `it is Christ who stands with them, it is Christ who is working through them and they are to be the blessings to the people entrusted to their care.` Fr. Leeborki too spoke on behalf of the New Priests and invited the young people to respond to God`s call without fear. Fr. Dabitlang gave the vote of thanks on their behalf.
    The celebration came to its close with a sumptuous meal prepared for all by the parish community.
