Pre Christmas Vocation Camp draws large group of Boys  by Cl. Glorius Shullai sdb
    Shillong, Jan. 2. 2017 A seven day Vocation Camp for boys desiring to become Salesians was held at Savio Juniorate from 15th to 22nd December, 2016. Despite limiting participation to only students who have passed Classes VII and VIII, 125 boys from 39 parishes spread across the dioceses of Shillong, Nongstoi� and Jowai participated in the annual recruitment program.
    The Camp Staff consisted of Vice Provincial Fr. Paul Olphindro Lyngkot who was the Camp Chief and six brothers -  Maitphang M, Glorious S, Donald S, Pyndappura N, Shanborlin K, Shanboksius S. The resource persons included Fr. James Thyrniang, Fr. Johnny Eapen and Br. Anthony Sumer. They addressed the campers on various themes related to the Salesian way of life and mission. The main aim of the Camp was to instill in the young boys a better understanding of the mission and works of the Salesians. Two newly ordained priests, Fr. John Dancer Sohshang and Fr. Leeborki Dhar celebrated Mass for the boys and prayed for them.
    The campers had classes taken for on different topics like Salesiana, English Grammar, Prayer and Catechism. In addition to the classes, a series of  competitions - SDB and Bible Quiz, Essay Writing, Singing, Dancing, GK and animated games kept the young boys enthusiastic and eager. In compliance to the criteria of Savio Juniorate, the selection was made on the basis of the candidate`s intellectual capacity, social dimension and emotional ability. A grand family get- together during which prizes were distributed brought the Camp to an end.
