CERTIFICATION DAY AT DON BOSCO TECHNICAL SCHOOL, SHILLONG
29th November 2024, Shillong: Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong, an empanelled Training Partner of the Meghalaya State Skills Development Society (MSSDS), celebrated the successful completion of training programs for 550 trainees across 18 diverse trades on November 29, 2024. The event was honored by the presence of Shri Joseph Fantin Lakadong, MDC of the Laitumkhrah-Malki constituency, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside Smt. Audrey Mary Khonglam, Skill Development Officer (SDO) of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
The ceremony was graced by the institution’s leadership, including Rev. Fr. Saji Stephan SDB, Rector and Director, Rev. Fr. Donbor Jyrwa, Manager, Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar, Principal, Bro. Lambert Lyngdoh, Vice Principal, and the dedicated instructors of DBTS.
The program began with a prayer, invoking God's blessings, led by Bro. Lambert Lyngdoh. Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar, the Principal, extended a warm welcome to all attendees and congratulated the trainees for their hard work and achievements. He encouraged them to pursue entrepreneurship and explore opportunities beyond the state. Fr. Saji, having commended the youth for the successful completion of their training, invited them to enter the workforce with humility to begin on the ground level, with an open attitude to learning more and a determined will to persevere. The SDO, in her address, emphasized the available job opportunities, the role of the placement cell at DBTS, and the importance of having faith in God. The Chief Guest, Shri Joseph Fantin Lakadong, encouraged the youth to be grateful for the opportunities that they have received and strive to become job creators.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the successful candidates in various trades, including Automotive Electrician, Electrical Technician, Assistant Electrician, Carpenter (Wooden Furniture), Domestic Data Entry Operator, Hand Embroiderer, Sewing Machine Operator, Assistant Hairdresser and Stylist, Make-up Artist, Two-Wheeler Service Assistant, Assistant Plumber-General, Multicuisine Cook, and Front Office Associate.
Ms. Asunta Papang, the MIS of the project, proposed the vote of thanks, and the program ended with a photo session to commemorate the occasion.
